Our Arbor Day volunteer event at Crestwood Park has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, due to weather concerns earlier this month.
We’ll still be planting native trees and making improvements at Crestwood Park. This is a great opportunity to give back to the environment, enjoy the outdoors, and help enhance one of Crestwood’s popular parks.
The event is organized in partnership with Open Space STL, a nonprofit that connects volunteers to outdoor conservation efforts across the region. We’re also grateful to Forest ReLeaf of Missouri and the Missouri Department of Conservation for their support in providing native trees for the planting.
If you weren’t available before but can join us on May 3, we now have open spots for volunteers.
Over 200 native seedlings have been ordered through MDC, and additional container trees will come from Forest ReLeaf of Missouri through their Project CommuniTree program. These trees are appropriate for suburban yards, and volunteers will also have the opportunity to take home a tree or native plant to plant in their own yards, while supplies last.
The planting will focus on restoring native habitat along the creek. Volunteers should dress for the conditions—long sleeves and pants, closed-toe shoes, and clothes that can get dirty. Work gloves and tools will be provided unless volunteers prefer to bring their own.
