Ameren Missouri has submitted a proposal to the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) to increase electricity rates by approximately 15%, which would generate about $446 million in additional annual revenue. For the average residential customer, this would mean an increase of about $210 per year (about $17 per month).
Ameren's Justification...
- Infrastructure Investments: Enhancements under Ameren Missouri's Smart Energy Plan, such as storm hardening and grid resiliency improvements, aim to increase reliability and reduce outages.
- Transition to Cleaner Energy: Investments in renewable energy sources, including the construction of new solar energy centers, align with Ameren's commitment to a cleaner energy future.
- Maintenance of Existing Facilities: Continued maintenance of facilities like the Callaway nuclear energy center ensures a stable and reliable energy supply.
