The Crestwood Public Works Department has started construction on two new crosswalks on Garber Road. They will be near cross streets of Tea Rose and Buxton.
At a meeting earlier this year, the Public Works Board approved adding these crosswalks to provide safe crossing for pedestrians, specifically children walking to/from Long Elementary school.
A secondary purpose is to provide natural "traffic calming" along Garber, slowing drivers as they approach. As a connector road, drivers tend to exceed the posted 25 MPH speed limit. This road has a few "blind spots" due to the hill, so care was taken to ensure the new crosswalks will be located with maximum visibility to oncoming drivers.
