Board of Aldermen Meeting (1/22/2019)

Here are the items discussed:

Christmas in Crestwood Winners were announced:

Congratulations to the Hallquist family (Pardee Road) for winning best decorated house in Ward 3!!

And congratulations to the Mueller family (Tea Rose) for winning first place overall!

New Assistant Fire Chief Leo Meyer and new Police Officer James Jones were both sworn in, with their families attending to show their support.

McDonald's - The ordinance approving the new McDonald's site plans passed after much discussion.   In summary only one variance was approved, allowing the new building to be located closer than the normal 50' from the side property line (25' was approved, on the condition that an 8' concrete wall be built on the property line to better block noise and provide privacy to the adjoining residents).   One resident spoke with concerns about this, but was later satisfied after hearing clarifications on what was proposed.

Electronic Signs - Crestwood's City planner requested that the board consider and pass a 6-month moratorium on approving any new requests for electronic signs, allowing time to research and possibly update the city's zoning and sign code.   These are those LCD signs such as we see along Watson at Grabber, Rich and Charlies, Pauline Bookstore, Scott Credit Union, etc.   Again after much discussion this request was voted down 5 to 3, thus keeping the current zoning as is.   That said, the city is currently updating their zoning and sign code later this year and will likely address this issue then.

Consent Agenda - A bunch of "standard" (non-controversial) items were grouped into one motion and were approved.   These items included renewal the Aquatic Center management contract, awarding a sidewalk repair contract, purchase of a dump truck and asphalt roller, and renewing the REJIS annual contract for IT support.
